| Are there Squash Teams? |
| We currently boast 7 mens teams in the
Merseyside League and a ladies team in the Cheshire League. |
| |
| Is there a Junior section? |
We've a very active junior section,
with teams competing at club, Merseyside County and North West
Regional Academy standard.
The club has an active programme of mini-squash and is keen for local
school to get involved in using our facilities. |
| The mini-squash and junior coaching
has restarted following the summer break. All juniors who have
attended these sessions are warmly invited to return and any junior
who did not participate last year is welcome to attend this year.
Grade your standard of play and turn up at the session time that best
suits. All abilities and standards will be catered for. Any questions
just give either John Knight (648 5751) or Irene
Neilson (342 2796) a ring. |
Well done to all the Heswall Juniors who played
in the Merseyside County Closed.
Charlotte Keighley & Mike Beecham both came first in their groups
and Rich Fisher, Andy Corran, Mike Corran
and Mike Beecham have all been asked to represent Merseyside in 2
weeks for the U19's. Not bad considering they are all 17. Well done
lads. |
| Check out the Junior section's
for details of their success. |

| Wirral Cup 2008 |
| Junior Wirral Cup
Finalists |
Ten o clock Saturday 15th March
saw junior players from across Merseyside arrive at Heswall Squash
Club for the inaugural Wirral Cup. Four age groups were on court:
U11, U13 Boys, U15 Boys and U15 Girls. The U11 and the U15 Girls
played a Round Robin while the U13 and U15 boys each played out a 12
draw Monrad Tournament. Following the adoption of American scoring
to 11 in the PSA tour it was decided to run the tournament matches
as best of three games to 11 for all age groups. An enjoyable day
was had by everyone mixed in with tears of frustration and
disappointment as everyone gave of their best. The four finalists in
each of the age groups are shown below.
U11 Daniel Beddard (Neston) v James Connor ()
u15 Girls: Kathryn Keighley (Heswall) v Georgina Swift (New
Brighton)
U15 Boys: Dan Prescot (New Brighton) v Alex Berry()
U13 Boys: Patrick Rooney () v Will Kynaston (Northern Crosby)
The finals will take place at New Brighton on Saturday 5th April:
exact timings to be announced.
Many thanks to the players at Heswall and New Brighton who despite
having no children involved in the tournament gave up their Saturday
to referee. A very big thank-you to Oliver Dumbleton, Ken Wilson,
Mike Beecham, Ken Wilson, Craig Beecham, Robert Jones and John
Knight. Many thanks also to all the parents who gave up their
Saturday to bring young players to the tournament. Finally thanks to
all the players -winners and losers- who played their matches with
enthusiasm and in good spirit. Its great to see youngsters enjoy
squash! |
