Box leagues
This is run by Delywn Hopkins and offers the opportunity for players to compete against other players of a similar standard in the club and ensures that any new member of the club quickly makes contact and establishes game partners. Any member of the club is welcome to join the league. To join, simply add your name & contact details to this month's sheet on the League Board and indicate which box league you wish to join.
Box leagues are organised in boxes of 5 players. Each player plays all other members of their box by a given date (usually a month from the date by which the previous leagues had to be played by). Matches are the best of 5 games. Results are entered on the board by players. On the basis of the scores they achieve at the end of the month's playing period, players are moved up, down or stay in the same box on the box league ladder. Its a good way to meet other players and to have a competitive - but not too serious - game.
